Planting Russet Potatoes

Anyone have success planting grocery store Russet potatoes in their garden? Are the yields good?

I heard that grocery store potatoes are sprayed with a sprout inhibitor so they may not sprout. If you have some that are sprouting, I would try them.

Or you can get them from the organic section. those won't or should not be sprayed with anything. I think the important part is to allow enough time for the potatoes to have gone through a dormancy. Like a fresh potatoe harvest to day is not likely to produce if planted tomarrow.
