Absolutely!

I love my "scratch and dent" special. I use it several times a day, every day.

With very few exceptions, I wash my dishes, hand rinse, and put them in the dishwasher to drain and dry. Seldom actually turn the thing on, but it sure is handy for keeping the counter free of drying dishes.

Then there is the occasional family get together. It really is nice to put the dishes inside, push a button, and go visit with the family.

AND I noticed when the babies were young there was far less spreading of colds when I used the machine over hand washing.

Love, Smart Red

Between the 2 of them ~ wives ~ I bought a dishwasher.

Maybe that's what short-circuited the first, she didn't have an electric. I remember washing them by hand, from the git-go. Mom made us wash dishes, too. Still, I really didn't like to wash dishes then (or now ;)).

The 2nd one ~ wife ~ didn't like the electric . .. She even thinks I do a better job than a machine :/! The dishwasher is now many years in the past . . .

The short answer is yes.

But there's background.
When I was 12 my mom was considering a portable dishwasher, you know, the kind that you roll up to the sink and attach to the faucet.
I was ecstatic over the prospect of having a machine do my job. To hurry my mom up into making such a monumental decision I told her if she got a dishwasher I would NEVER, NO NEVER, EVER, complain about loading or unloading it.

She had me write this promise down for her and sign and date it, which I was happy to do.

Fast forward....I found out after the shine wore off, in like a week, that loading and unloading a dishwasher was still work, and not so much different than washing and drying by hand

Got married, had kids, 25 years later I'm living in a house with a built in dishwasher.
Being scarred as I was as a young girl I didn't use it. My kids think I'm a nutter. Okay, fiiinally after 6 months I break down and use the thing.

Hey!! This isn't so bad after all!!

Turns out my kids still think I'm a nutter...has nothing to do with the dishwasher! :)

And now, my lovely husband gets up after dinner and rinses the dishes and loads the dishwasher for me! Life is good!!

My first dishwasher . . er, make that first electric dishwasher, was used for 6 years as a stand for the microwave. The microwave was used exclusively for warming up coffee.

Then we built this house and the new, 6 year old dishwasher was finally hooked up for use. I've come a long way in those 30+ years. We're on our second dishwasher and it does get used. I even learned how to use the microwave oven for something other than reheating.

I always had to do the dishes as a youngster. I even remember going to my Aunt's house for Thanksgiving and having her bring dirty dishes out of closets, suitcases, and basement cupboards. It is little wonder that I hated doing dishes!

I still do not relish the task, but I usually prefer to do a hand wash as being faster and cheaper than using the machine for just the two of us.

Bought a house with dishwasher. It was limed up, got it fixed. Serviceman told her to use it at least 1X a week. After he left, it's never been used--that was 26 years ago.
