This year was my first with a Asian Pear. I had never grown one before, so I went to a upscale nursery and bought a nice healthy tree. I planted in the new orchard, where it did very well. Last weekend when I checked it was Covered in small pears. Today when I checked it was almost half way eaten away. My fault I never did anything to protect from deer. Next to pear was a sour cherry that died, ( I have killed somewhere in teens of cherries), was hoping sour would break death cycle. I told my nephew to dig up cherry, I cursed a little about the deer damage, then walked to another part of garden. Hour later I passed the wheel barrow that was sitting , the dead cherry and Asian pear where in cart. When I stopped cursing my nephew said he thought I wanted them both out. I told him trees can recover from deer damage . Not sure now very stressed tree then uprooted. He replanted it but I don't have much hope.
