I have just carried my potted plants to the basement and sunroom. Here near the Plateau we may have some early morning frost. It is just about 2 weeks early but have to take the warning seriously. I will also put a sheet over my raspberry plants since there is still lots of small ones to grow and ripen. I had hoped to have another couple weeks but oh well we take what we get. The forecast looks good after tonight so maybe we can avert any major damage.

Consider yourself lucky. Mine have been in the house for about 3 weeks now. Looks like tonight will be our first "hard" frost though. Temps may actually dip below freezing.

Suppose to get cold but not enough for frost, but I still dug up my sweet potatoes. All 4 hills, I stunted 1 hill early on but still got a 2.5 gal bucket full. Guessing around 20 pounds. Will fry some up tomorrow for potluck.

We barely missed a light frost about a week ago. There was some frost on the grill cover and on roofs but it must have warmed up in time to not damage plants. There is a cold front coming next weekend that may put up frost/freeze warning but that is 7 days away and I am hoping for the best. However, can't complain since we have had freezes and snow in September.

There it is, I can't complain either, Cityfarmer. In other years, there has been frost damage in my garden on the last days of August :/.

Here, the average day for first frost has now passed & it has been down in the 30's 3 times lately. But, the region had some record warm late September days! Looks like we are good for this week.

How did things go for those of you having colder weather???

Steve

Here is something from Utah State University that I found recently. Just find your state and click select for "short, average, long" dates for your location. :/ If you are down-in-the-dumps about a first frost -- look at Wyoming locations. :/ (CLICK)

We didn't frost at our house because we had a big fog. Several communities near us had a big frost with temps around 36. I guess we lucked out for a week or two since forecast is for 40's the next week with 60's during the day. We are lucky here near Dale Hollow Lake in that the fogs protect us sometimes. Nice and sunny today but that wind cuts a little.
