It is finally "official" my husband's company is relocating the entire North American Manufacturing to Florence, South Carolina. Within the next 30 days we will know if we are "invited" to be moved.

The office here has been "support" for a manufacturing plant in Mexico. With the continued violence in Mexico, the engineers here refuse to go down to the Mexican Plant anymore. But with this move they are cutting the number of employees by 1/3!

I guess South Carolina made the company a great offer so, in the next 30 days we will know if my husband still has a job or not. They will offer him a good layoff package I am sure, since he has been with the company over 30 years. And he has a pension plan with them.

I covet your prayers for this transition.

I would love to leave this desert!!

That's great news, I wish you much success rebbetzin!! :)
Yes I don't think Mexico would be the best of places to make a living and to be safe of course.
South Carolina sounds like a great place, I bet it would be a huge difference from the desert.

My prayers will be with you!!

It makes it hard since I know my husband doesn't want to move. He is a desert rat!! Hates high humidity!
I, on the other hand, love GREEN!! I grew up in Los Angeles CA never more than 15 minutes from the ocean. I HATE it here!

Though, I have been here since 1975!

Hate to hear that you have to go through such a nail-biting wait. We've lost a lot of industrial jobs around here too and it has really rocked our community. So many of my friends have their husbands traveling to other states for work, gone for several weeks or months at a time, but not wanting to move the whole family because things are still so unsettled in the economy right now.

I'll be praying he gets to keep his job and that he'll find SC a pleasant place to live. (I think I would like it down there. Especially being so near the ocean. And the long growing season too! :) ) I know you'll at least be glad to not have to measure every drop of water anymore! ;)

I hate that you have to make such a move, possibly, but as a southern girl... I think you'll enjoy it, and want to offer you a warm southern welcome!

(Forget the fact I moved here from Connecticut! HAHAHAHA)

I do hope they extend you the invitation though. :)

Sending good thoughts your way that whatever happens will be a smooth and enjoyable transition. As a displaced Santa Barbaran, I feel your pain at the loss of coastal weather, but we all can adapt to new locations if we look at what is good in each place.

It's good you would prefer that climate to desert but still it's a shame to lose all the hard work you put into the place.

Yes, as I went out to feed the chickens this morning, I took a good look at my coop and my back garden. I would miss them. My husband is pretty sure he doesn't want to move. I will just be patient, and learn to be content with whatever way it goes.

Rebbetzin, I think that's very wise of you to be patient and wait . If you stay you have the comfort of friendships you've made and all the fruits of your hard labor. If you go you have a very big adventure and a new slate to begin to work with. That would be something to look forward to. :) I'll be praying that you and your husband would have wisdom in making this big decision. :hugs
