If you use a wood burning stove you can use the ashes from it or anywhere you can get ashes and spread it on the potato plants and the bugs wont like it

Garden Ornament
I was told that you can use the ashes for maggots in onions and radishes as well. Just sprinkle on the rows. Haven't tried it yet. Didn't have any ashes left when I was told. I'll try ir this coming year.
