Purple loosestrife highly invasive. I knew it was only a matter of time. Going to need gallons of roundup.

@Nyboy the very first thing you need to do is cut the flowers off before they go to seed and dispose of them by either burning or enclosing in a plastic bag and leave in the sun to cook until you have time to deal with the plants themselves.

Dig it out DON'T use Roundup next to a stream, get those roots out.
We have a small river, more like a stream across the road from our house, there was a whole bank of it here,

Volunteers spent a weekend digging it out, coming back the next year to dig out the stragglers. The third year they found very little if any at all. It's been a few years but it's still free of Purple Loosestrife. Such a pretty plant but so evil:(. This little stream is a full blown river in the winter, it's also tidal so on full tides it's a flood plain.

I built about 10 years ago should not have used 2 by 4 s didnt know any better. long story my friend Kristine got to close to edge nails on other side pulled out flipping her into water where she was inplailed on under water branch Spent 3 days in hospital on IV antibiotics. could not believe home owner insurance paid for every thing. For safety if you look close I have tiki toruchs along sides if have company at night I light them very pretty.

When i bought house there was a red moon bridge like this. 90% rotted loved it killedme to tear down bridge I built on its cinder block fountain
