Here are pictures from my garden this morning. I hope I am not posting too many. :/ Our garden is about a month behind schedule. If we can make it through September without a frost/freeze/snow we should be okay.

THat all looks so green, growing and lush cityfarmer.

I like that set-up a lot. Imagine if everyone transformed their backyard into vegetable production.

Thank you!

I am always amazed at how much we are able to produce in our backyard. I have not bought corn in 5 years. I have had to buy green beans one year out of 5 because the "dried beans" overtook the green beans. I buy one bag of potatoes to get me through the summer. The chickens enjoy the pumpkin seeds all year and mashed pumpkin pulp is a special treat for them throughout the year. I have not bought pickles or pickle relish in 3 years now. While it may not be cheaper by the time I factor in watering, I know exactly what has been done to my veggies and it is my therapy!

Putting in the raised beds was worth the work that it took and I don't have near as much grass to mow!

WOW, that looks awesome cityfarmer! I've never heard of proso...whazat?? I also am glad we went with raised beds, mine has lasted longer than expected and works great. I dont do much deep tilling or turning in mine, or really any this year...just top dress with some compost. Do you dig yours around much in the spring or fall?

Everything looks fabulous!! I know you will enjoy that harvest! Good idea tying up the asparagus. I will have to do that next year- mine is flopping around in a very unattractive manner! Love the idea of less grass to mow. That is my goal on the side yard- just a few grassy paths- and everything else gardens!!!

Proso is a supplemental grain that we can feed to our chickens. I want to start some inside as well. We have not grown it before so I am not sure what to expect from it. Yet another gardening adventure. :weee

This is the first year I tied up the asparagus mainly because it was falling on the green beans and covering the spot where I wanted to plant the proso. I do like it better tied up though.

Everything looks great! I put out a raised bed for my strawberries last year and now I am hooked on them and putting in a bunch more. So easy to keep up after. Everything looks really healthy in your beds. Their size/spacing looks really efficient too. I think chickens must love to have their picture taken. My girls hop in most of my garden photos too.
