We just got a mail-order Shadblow 'bush' (at a staggering 6in. tall), and it looks dead. Grapes, as you know, don't bud until late May, before which they look dead, and after which the explode into a menagerie of leaves. Is Amelanchier the same way? I hope so. It looks dead. :/

Wow, J. R.

It could just be that it is coming out of cold storage. But . . .

All the Serviceberry ( ;) ) bushes have just begun to bloom around here. The lower elevation of the hills are turning white with blossoms. I've never ordered it as a domesticated, landscape shrub.

We ordered this one from Linderberg. They're up in mid-Manitoba, so that means they still have almost 4 ft. of snow! :p We ordered the variety 'Smokey'. It's supposed to be 1 year old, but.... 6in. tall? Of course this little fellow wouldn't be blooming, but it should be budding at least.

I take it I wont be having homemade Saskatoon/Juneberry/Shadblow/Serviceberry/Sugarplum/Chuckley jam this fall. :/
