Question for the Smoky Mountain area Gardeners:

I read a while back that in Cade's Cove, and possibly other places in the Smokies, that in the summer all the lightening bugs (fireflies) are synchronized in their lighting, so that all of them would light up at once, then be off all together. Since I see that lightening bugs are here already in my backyard, it reminded me that I wanted to ask someone this. Fact or fiction?

I have not been at Cade's Cove at night, but I grew up in the general area of the Smokies. Fiction where I was.
