red ants and peppers

My peppers keep losing their leaves. At first I blamed the chickens, wild birds, rabbits, etc. Now I've seen many hills of red ants. Could they be the culprits? Never had ant problems until I moved the garden into ant central.

I am now fighting back w/ant spray that is registered to use in kitchens. I know it works as I've taken out hundreds of ant nests in yard. This is the year of the ant.

Here too... I have had regular ants move into the roots of new transplants and kill them! Never had a problem with ants before...Just what we need another enemy!

This year there are tons of ants and ant hills everywhere, including the garden. But as far as I know, they will not bother the plants.

That has always been my attitude- but when they make the hill in the roots of a new transplant- not so much!!

We are literally swarmed with them... I did a lot to get them displaced during transplant time between cool season and warm season plantings. They just moved a few feet to the other side of the bed!!!

Just in from weeding, ants took about 1/2 of my onions out. they also killed a mum transplant. After tonite, they won't be a problem there anymore...............

When I get on my hands and knees to weed, the little devils crawl on my legs and bite.
