Yesterday I pulled a red potato because taters were starting to show above ground. Man, I got more than I could put in my lifted t shirt from one plant. All kinds of sizes from several full sized units to lots of medium ones and a bunch of little ones. Yanking it gives the beans more room there. I decided to pull one of the blue potatoes too. I should have waited, but I got several medium sized ones and several small ones.

Blue taters are fun, but red taters are productive. I have a few more plants in there. A couple of them made "seed balls", where the pretty flowers were in clusters. Potato fruits look like pale cherry tomatoes. I want to let them ripen and save the seed to grow next year. That oughta be fun.

That's been pretty much my experience with red potatoes altho' the Yukon Golds are beating the Sangre this season. It could be the sunnier location for the YG's and I'm still waiting with strong anticipation for the Sangre vines to drop.

I thought I'd post this link to a photo this guy's dad was bragging about.
First: the potato fruit picture (click)
Then: the results as a "landrace" (click).

His dad said that everything in the baskets were the result from saving seed . . . but I don't know how many plants Joseph saved seeds from.
