2 weeks ago I did some fall cleanup in my yard. Even without the leaves on the vines I came down with Poison Ivy. Jewel weed is long gone in my part of the country. I went to cvs and purchased over $100 of Poison Ivy products. One night it was so bad I almost went to the ER. Can Jewel weed be frozen or dryed to use when not in season?

My husband swears by Zanfel (Tecnu and Buji also good), even after the rash has set in, they will help dry it up and provide relief from the itch.

I imagine you could make a salve or paste out of the jewelweed and freeze/refridgerate it. May take some digging online to find a recipe, but I would probably go with something water-based. (Try asking this over on Sufficient Self).

My husband is so allergic to it that if he's really gone and rolled in it, we have to take him to get a steriod shot. :p

I thank my lucky star that I was born immune to both poison ivy and poison oak. One of my sisters is also immune, the other is very alergic to it.

When I get P/Ivy I call my DR. and get a RX for some sort of pills that you take 7 or so, the 1st day then 6 on down to 1 on the last day.
Relieves the itch and drys the blisters.
I've been told it is a steroid but I have not had an urge to play baseball (when taken as perscribed)

I'm thinking it's probably cortisone.

You can buy hydrocortisone cream over the counter at most stores with a medicine department. Also, take a big dose of benadryl, that stuff works pretty good. I recently got a brown recluse spider bite and taking benadryl kept me from losing much skin to the poison. Tea tree oil might also be soothing rubbed on it.

Methyprednisolone...used for many allergic reactions. I have to take those if I get stung by a wasp so that I don't break out all over in hives. I don't know about baseball, but they do make you extra hungry for some reason. :p
