Reseeding Yard

Where I live it gets very hot, and during the summer we often have water restrictions. With that said, last year a good part of my yard on the far end scorched. Is there an easy way to fix this? I want the grass to blend together. I am also getting conflicted information on rototilling the area.

That is my situation, too. I'm going to seed my lawn with different seeds to see what, if anything, takes. I've got some Ecolawn from Wildflower farms, Centiseed and Perfect Patch and one other bag of seed. Hopefully, I'll have reasonably positive news to report later into the season.
