There is a robin fluttering around the lawn , spring is almost here. When people are amazed that I have chickens that lay blue eggs I always say so do robins. Funny because everyone knows the color of robin eggs.

Mud and robins... you are well on your way to spring!! I was hoping for blue eggs, but my girls lay green. Still more fun than brown!

When was that flock of 4 robins, across the road in a walnut trees? Early January?

I haven't seen a robin in several weeks.

Maybe they all took one of those late-winter flights to Hawaii .

i've been wondering if we have a locally traveling flock of robins that never flew south this winter. a few weeks ago i looked out my kitchen window and noticed some oddly colored birds that i hadn't seen before in the trees/scrub/sumac in the backyard. they were ransacking the buds on the sumac and didn't seem to be touching the ground so i didn't realize they were robins! it seems that the most i see them here is late winter into the early summer and then i never see them again for many months. or i just ignore them because they just aren't as pretty or vocal as most birds hanging around my yard.

YEAH, I love spying the 1st robin of spring. But in these parts the killdeer and redwing black birds are better harbingers of spring. Some silly robins try to winter over!

There's an old train car here that has been turned into a craft shop. Every single spring a Robin makes a nest under the back steps. She's so friendly and doesn't dive bomb anyone that comes to watch the progress of her blue eggs. It's always so fun to see!

I have a rainbow flock here when it comes to feathers and eggs. I get white, cream, brown, chocolate brown, blue, and green eggs from my girls. Egg baskets are always so fun!
