Growing more food in cities is great. I still wouldn't want to live there, but it's a really good idea.

Ok I hate to be the conspiracy nut but it is a day ending in Y. Anytime they pass more laws and regulations we loose liberty not gain. Yes I think that planting rooftop gardens are a great, awesome, practical super duper idea.... but the government needs to stay out of it. 1 regulation leads to 20, then you can only plant this kind of plant and oh yes GMO are more productive etc...... Be very, very afraid.

i think the reason they didn't allow for stuff like this to be build on top of the buildings in the first place was because of the added weight on older buildings that couldn't support them.
