We gave away the three Australorp roosters today. There was no doubt all three were roosters. When you have 6 Australorp chicks and three have very large, red combs with matching wattels and three don't, it's pretty much a dead give away  Not to mention two of them started trying to crow this morning. They went to a good home. My best friends SIL has chickens and took them in. She was excited because she has a 'lorp hen, and is hoping for some pure blood chicks. She also won't eat home processed chickens :/ It kind of freaked her out when she found out I had CX. She did comment that she will never eat chicken at my house again. I don't get it. :idunno

Apparently she hasn't heard about what happens to factory farmed chicken from the store! :p Now THAT would make you stop eating chicken.

you're lucky to get a home for your roosters. out of my 12 babies I think the majority are roosters. that's ok. they WILL be in my freezer.

I guess some people are like that. I once had a birthday party for one of my daughters. She wanted homemade strawberry ice cream, so I made a gallon, with fresh strawberries right from the patch. There was one of DW's relatives (the wife of some cousin or other) who refused to eat the ice cream because it didn't come from the store. Now maybe I can understand someone not eating home processed chicken. Maybe they think it's unsafe or something...but ice cream? Really? Who doesn't love homemade ice cream??

I agree homemade strawberry ice cream is the best. Sometimes people are just odd. Then again I'm sure she probably thought you were the odd one.

I made home made ice cream once with some friends kids. We put red food coloring in it just for fun, which turned it pink. My friends were on their second bowl before they realized it was vanilla, not strawberry. But at least they ate it. What is wrong with some people??
