I tried grafting a rose just to see if I could. :rolleyes: A day or two after grafting, the leaves yellowed and died. It has been two and a half weeks now, and if you scratch the stem it is green. Was the graft successful, or does it just take a while for a rose cutting to die? :hu

I'd give it time. Don't give up until it is obviously dead. You may start to see some bud swelling in the leaf axils.

What kind of rose did you graft?

Yep, don't give up yet.

One of my grafted grapes just struggled along the first year. By the end of last year I was pretty sure it was a goner, but I let it be, and right now it is showing nice little buds fattening up.

What kind of graft did you use? The T-Bud graft?

@thistlebloom I have no idea :hu I just thought it would be fun to try. One type is an unknown non climbing red type (came with the property) the grafted one is also unknown, but it is a yellow climbing type, I bought it but have no clue what kind it is.
@marshallsmyth Yes I used the T- graft.

I was whacking back my roses and decided to take a bit and try, they were getting their leaves but didn't have any flower buds, and the cutting is thin but long, about a foot long. Does that matter?

Good for you for giving grafting a try Wishin'! I can't tell you much because I've never done it.

I'm with Marshall on this, just give it lots of time. I hope it works!
