We had a big old gnarly mulberry out by the road when we moved in. We knew it was in bad shape, but we had no idea how bad it really was. When hubby had the mini-ex here last weekend he decided to pull down a dead branch that would keep my grandfather from pulling his trailer onto the property...the first dead branch snapped right off and pulled another off with it. Once they were off we could see that the trunk was completely rotten through. We decided to just pull the whole tree down, rather than wait for a windstorm to do it for us. It was actually rotten all the way down into the roots. After a few whacks with the bucket there wasn't even a stump left to pull. I'm sad that it's gone, but at least I get to decide what kidn of tree to put in it's place now.

Best now to discover it and handle it then, like you said, have a windstorm blow through and make a complete mess for you!
