Means it's ok to plant them near iron fence stakes....

Kidding!!!

Yea, rust is a kind of fungus. Most Beans'll tough it out if they get it, which won't be until the season's just about done anyway. Some squash get Powdery mildew on their leaves by season end.

If you see things like that when ya take your garden up at season end, I recommend burning and ashing it all. If it is really bad, do the burn right in the garden where it was worst. Ashing garden waste is the next best thing to do besides composting. You'd have to have a "hot" compost pile to kill the spores.

Too much warm humidity and unclean methods, along with local spores of the wrong fungi is what causes a diseased garden. If ya suspect it'll happen, don't water late in the day, try not to water the leaves, try not to make the soil splash on the plants.

Yea, right. It's fun to water at night! And I love splashing! Oh well. I'm lucky and don't get much of the fungus problems. I'm loaded with beneficial fungus, store bought, and natural from the forest. My soil's so composty it doesn't splatter much. Your sandy soil might not splatter much either.

Lots of plants are susceptible to various diseases or problems. Plant breeders find disease resistant crops through trail and error. They take the seed of the plants that did not get rust in a field of plants that did get rust. They do this for generations to build a variety resistant to the target problem. This is a simplistic view of plant development but humans have been doing things like this for thousands of years. It's an organic way to prevent a problem. Your beans are not guaranteed not to get rust but, it is very unlikely.
