Seedlings outside

Hey all,

I put my seedlings in my greenhouse for the second time this morning which was sunny(the first time was mostly cloudy) and some of the seedlings wilted. What can I do to avoid this? I am very new to this whole greenhouse growing so could anyone help me?

They need to be slowly hardened off. Probably too hot. Try an hour at a time. They also need some light wind on them.. Or you can put a fan on them indoors or in the greenhouse. I have hardier plants in mine already. I open the door during the daytime. The 10 day forecast is 39 degrees tonight and 40 and above after that. Time for more to go out. You can also put them on a covered porch where they will get some breeze. Watch out for sun scald. What is your zone?

Did they dry out? It's pretty easy for the soil to dry out, there isn't much depth there. Some seed starting mixes can dry out pretty fast. A wind blowing on them can also dry them out. Wind should not have been a problem in the greenhouse.

Could have been too hot or direct sun can burn them as Cat said.

I use weather.com for my zip code to tell me hour by hour temps. and up to a 10 day forecast.I put my cruciferous trays out in the sun and cool breeze for a few hours today. I then put them in my hoop house for the night. I will likely keep them there and open both ends during the day. It is woven plastic so not as hot as clear plastic would be.Their biggest problem is if a wood chuck discovers them. They can probably find their way it.
