Okay from what I understand you can used DE as sevin. I have food grade for my chickens, so do I need to purchase regular DE for the garden? What are the pros and cons of useing this? Help someone please!

Well, what exactly are you trying to achieve in the garden. That is, what specific pests are you having trouble with.

Personally I would not use DE in the garden, for two reasons: 1) it is completely unselective and will kill the good or harmless bugs, which is MOSt of 'em, just as much as the pesty ones. And 2) With the first rain it will wash down into the soil where it will do next to nothing (except potentially kill a few more harmless critters if your soil is dry).

Nonselective pesticides are never a good idea, if you ask me. Identify what's causing trouble, decide whether it's really causing *so* much trouble that you need to do something, and if the answer is Yes then pick a control strategy appropriate for that particular pest.

JMHO,

Pat
