I have been working on this for my DW.

I have made a 24' long beam out of recycled wood and steel.

I have two sections of shade cloth up so far and they need a little adjusting.

The shade cloth was on clearance.

I know most of you think I'm nuts, but down here it is still Hot! A mere 94* today.

I hope to plant the A-frame as to hide it.

I think I need to make a sign for it to name my front yard garden!

Any ideas for a name?

Does it catch Alligators? LOL

Actually, it looks shady, and it even looks like you can retract it?

I like the color.

Do you worry about hurricanes? The beam looks mighty heavy, is it an I beam? :hide

The beam is made from 2"x4" with a 3" strut lagged onto both sides and a steel T lagged to the top!

Yes it is very heavy! Not retractable. But simple to take down the cloth. I used springs in the corners and zip ties in the field.
The cloth does not come with the eyelets. That is a lot of fun! :he

I fear no hurricane, but I do respect them! :old

Thanks for the offer.

I just came in from planting around it and making hanging plants for it as well.

I am also getting lots of plants together for some one. Sunday will be all about packing plants! I think I will do a photo expose'

I like it. I want to get one like my aunt as on her backyard where its a trellis for grapes and some other things but I wouldnt want to deal with everything falling down and hitting someone in the head, happened with hers right into someones drink when we were having lunch!

does it rain through that cloth I would like to hand some under my decks if it can keep the rain off my head!

looks like a great idea!
Yes rain goes right through it as does wind!

I am right by the Gulf and we get some real good wind gusts and it hardly moves.

It sure does make it cooler under it!

I am also thinking it should help hold in the heat should I get a freeze this year.

I hope to be able to cover almost of my yard front and back this year.
Should I need to of course.
