I always liked the woven cotton netting. When the peas are done you just take down the whole thing and compost it.

:) I use a few bamboo poles stuck into the ground with deer mesh netting tied on it. I plan on using it again this year for the peas, it worked pretty great last year. You just have to sometimes help the pea plants by guiding their tendrils to the netting, they'll attach themselves to it pretty quickly.
Once my peas start popping up, I'll put up that trellis.

I'll have to get pictures, its actually pretty creative as my husband says. I ran lines to a fence and an old piece of metal work I found at a flea market. ;)

I bought bush peas thinking I don't have to trellis them, they look like they want to climb, should I trellis them?? :/

I've never grown bush peas before, but I know when I grow bush beans, instead of pole beans, they get nice and bushy (go figure! :D), but never need a trellis.

The bush varieties do need some support too, it will keep your peas off the ground and make picking easier. My grandma always used small trimmings from shrubs that she poked in next to the plants. I've always grown the monster vines so don't have actual experience with the bush types, but my grandmas method worked great for her! :)

I really prefer trellis over bush peas. The bush get so tangled it's hard to find the peas and get them without breaking the vines. Trellis is also easier on this old back. All the peas are right there in front of you and easy to see and pick.
If you make your trellis permanent you can easily switch from beans to peas to cukes all on the same trellis at different seasons. My trellises also act as wind breaks and shade for my rabbit pens to help break up those nasty Santa Annas we get in Summer. Heat is hard on rabbits and a hot dry wind is the worst condition they face.
