@ninnymary. It sure lis a distinctive red. I bet if you take a small stem and or picture to a nursery they can ID it for you. It reminds me of ‘Bloodgood’ acer palmatum. Very distinctive in the garden.

I have a small collection of dwarf , intermediate , snake bark and trident maples. They are all quite showy in fall and lovely color and texture during the growing season.

I wanted to post a picture in one of the 2 Fall Colors threads but missed my chance. Like @flowerbug says, the only trees around with some leaves on them are some bedraggled brown oaks. Maples dropped leaves before November!

There is a pretty ginkgo in a park several miles away that fills the landscape with bright yellow leaves. It requires an uphill walk and that requires some  mental preparation. Too late. Our little, un-photogenic backyard ginkgo dropped  all of its leaves and stood bare and naked before we were ready to visit its big cousin.

When Shades' first posted this thread, I drove on N & S side of a nearby park with HUGE sycamore trees. Not especially colorful but the expansive exposed bark is pretty. The sunlight was absolutely terrible and I was in something of a hurry and couldn't figure out where the heck I needed to be to take a shot. Anyway, that's my excuse and I am sticking with it.

So here, parked in my lazyboy in early morning darkness, my contribution:

Thinking, where should I have gone for a hillside of tamarack and Douglas fir? @Alasgun should start this colors thread in Fall, 2025!

The ginkgo tree (Ginkgo biloba) is one of the oldest living tree species in the world, with some individual trees reaching thousands of years old: Here’s a pic from my small tree collection of the male Ginkgo tree. Leaf shapes are Unusual shape just starting to change color.

Went to Sacramento this weekend to visit my daughter. Sac is about 1.5 hours from the Bay Area and is known as the city of trees cause it has a lot of trees.

This beautiful tree is on the corner of my daughter’s house. I took a walk in the rain.
