I picked a really great harvest this season of snow peas a few weeks back. I'm even leaving the plants on the trellis after harvesting and their starting to bloom again. I have beans planted underneath these pea plants which will take their place when the peas stop producing.
I love to prepare the snow peas by sauteeing them with some onion and prosciutto with some olive oil. They just melt in your mouth.....:drool They were really delicious, I enjoyed them. I may put up two trellises of snow peas next year.

They are nice, aren't they, Greenthumb!

I like all 3: snow, snap and shell!

They sure disappointed me this year - for the 1st time that I can remember. Mildew pretty well determines that I can't keep them around for a 2nd flush of production, any year. Sure won't give up on them, tho' - gooood food :p!

I had wonderful snap peas this season. I bet all these peas enjoyed our cool, wet spring! (I'm glad something did!) I am putting snow peas on my list for next year. Nothing beats fresh peas from the garden...Enjoy!

My brother grew snow peas one year when we were in middle school and I remember them being delicious (much to his frustrations, I used to eat them right off the vine all the time)! Maybe they should go on my list for next year!

Murphy's - I would think that you could grow them either early or late in the season where you are. When my brother grew them we lived in Davis, which is pretty hot in the summer, and they did fine.
