I went for a hike today at the Grafton Lakes State Park. Fortunately, the snowshoers and cross-country skiers have packed the snow somewhat so that it is possible to walk, as on either side of the trail the snowpack is 18 to 24 inches deep. This is the result of our recent nor'easters, and when it melts it is sure to cause some problems with the rivers and streams. I just hope we don't get warm weather with a lot of rain, then there will really be a problem.

we had a few feet on the ground some weeks ago. then warm rains happened and it all went quickly and hasn't been replaced. now the ground is rather dry. we are due for some rain this week, i sure hope. and perhaps even some warmer days (above freezing at night even). flowers are coming up and that is ok. the early ones. :)

snow pack out west has improved a great deal the past week. not that they are out of the woods yet, but a few million acre feet of water is better than a sharp stick in the eye...

hoping the Colorado River can get a similar boost before the rainy season is done.
