I was harvesting my chocolate mint and noticed that on some of the plants there are deposits that look like soapsuds. I am assuming they are eggs but are wondering if anyone knows what kind bug lays their eggs in a substance that looks foamy like little bubbles?

Those are spit bugs. They bear watching but usually don't get numerous enough to do much damage. They make that froth by whipping their tail back and forth. It protects the eggs from sunlight and predators.

I enjoy watching what the bugs are up to when I work in my garden. They are some very interesting little critters.
