I went to the coop and picked up a couple of spaghetti squash plants and a couple of tomato plants. They were out of seed potato, but the man that works there had a sack of soft seed potato and a bunch of white onion sets and shallot onions. The seed potatoes are soft. The sack has some rotton ones in there. The soft ones have sprouts. Would it be okay to plant these? I was going to pick out the best looking and ones that do not smell and put sulfur on them. They were certified seed potato. :hu

I think they will be fine, i would go ahead and plant all but the rotten ones. If you get some that dont come up, maybe you can just stick more seed potatoes in later to fill in the gap. Or something else.

I am sorting through them. Most look pretty good. Sack weighed 29 pounds.

Really, there are not many rotten and they are pretty firm. They have sprouts and look good. Just that the sack was stinking because some in there that were rotten, but I put them out on the patio and separated them. I planted 44 of them so far. Also, I got 9 pounds of white onion sets and 17 pounds of shallot sets all free. The problem is room, so I will see if they are in good shape and plant what I can and see if any of the neighbors want them.

Or.......you could dig up your yard.......
I like that idea!! There is a strip of ground in the front that gets the most sun and I am going to claim it someday. My DH is horrified, but something is going there that you can eat. I planted 108 potatoes. I think they are red. I only threw away about about 5 pounds of rotten ones. I did not cut any of them. Too tired to plant the onions or shallots. I planted the spaghetti squash, 3 Delicata squash and some squash seeds.
