Just wondering if anyone on here is using solar powered lights for their chicken coop? How are they working for you? I really need to get some lights in the chicken house, as the days grow shorter. I would rather not have an electrical cord running across the lawn all winter.

Work great. I have a string of Christmas lights. They've been working for 2yrs now. I don't care about 'extending the daylight hours' for egg and all, but the little heffer-butts can't seem to settle down fast enough in the quick fall sundowns and someone gets left on the floor. This gives them a little extra time to complain, shuffle, peck each other, etc.

Did you buy Christmas Lights that were already equipped with a solar panel, or did you rig something up?

Got them at Big Lots and they came as solar lights. I think they were supposed to be for decorating a porch rail or a bush or something. There is a little panel that could either be on a stake on the ground or hung on a clip. They're tiny little led lights. When I had the shelter for my old horse up, I wove them through the top of the arch. Just enough light for me to see that there weren't any critters in there when I went out to feed and for her to see the feeder w/o tripping.
You can see the clip and panel, and if you look REAL CLOSE you can see some of the lights up in the top of the arch.
