Okay I'm going to fall off the plant no more corn wagon next year and have been searching for the perfect type, so all you experienced corn growers this is what I am looking for..... I will use the corn mostly to make corn meal (may eat a couple of ears, but not many). I am in central eastern OK zone 7b (according to the old one the new one has me in 6 I believe) We have very hot dry summers, so I am wanting to plant corn in as soon as I can in the earliest part of spring, I want it to be open pollinated and not white. I am wanting to plant it early so I can harvest before the dry season hits so I don't have a ridiculous water bill. I want it fast maturing so I can follow up plant w/ something more drought tolerant and it can get a little start before it get real summer. Does my perfect corn exist? and if it does do you know what it is? Thanks in advance

It's been years, but I have grown corn before and always loved plain 'ol no frills yellow dent field corn. If picked young, it makes a Jim-Dandy cream corn or corn on the cob. My favorite is to cook a skillet of bacon, put a package of cream corn in the grease and crumble the bacon up on top, then bake in the oven untill the edges turn brown.

Well naturally, I think you need try Painted Mountain corn Kassaundra!
It's pretty. It's even pretty early. I didn't eat it fresh, but don't know why you couldn't, and I got a good yield from mine.
It makes great cornbread too.
