I had been at my desk awhile before it dawned on me TT and Burt where being very quite. I looked in their happy hut, both where inside, and there was a egg. Not sure who laid it, so at least 1 is female. When I had pigeons they laid 2 eggs, when nest had 4 eggs ( happens a lot) 2 females setting up house.

well congrats! but the big question is if you have a male & female or if someone is just getting into their breeding age. have you seen either bird trying to mate/mount the other?

oh, and i guess i missed this, but when did you get a 2nd bird? do you have updated pics of them?

Probably you providing a happy hut stimulated the egg laying. Doesn't mean you have a pair. Lots of birds will lay eggs and act like they are fertile, to no avail. Probably if you want it to stop, you will need to take the house away.
But, hey, you might have a pair! Have you observed any mating behavior?

I have seen what I guess you could call mating, but not the way my pigeons did. Both birds would raise their tails and rub butts together, i never seen one on top of other so have feelings 2 females. Chickie client gave TT a mirror for xmas she spent all day looking at herself so I thought she was lonely. Found another on CL

well that makes sense to get another bird since they are communal. i have a lone parakeet at the moment and i know she loves chatting away to her toys in the cage. the past 2 weeks i have finally started to let her out to train since i think she has finally bonded enough with me.

this morning i took her into the bathroom to let her out of the cage & when she was doing her flying around she kept flying back to land on me & letting me pick her up. but i know she still needs some work. i had parakeets as a kid so i learned how to whistle like one. i think this helped her to know i was safe. that and i keep her safe from the 2 cats in my house when they like to stare are her cage & tempt the wrath of the squirt bottle when they paw the cage.

So...you rescued 1 bird. and then another...and now their having babies. Hahahahahaha
Chicken math in a bird cage? Or perhaps your pending baby shower holds more meaning than you had thought.

I know I've told the story of my two MALE rabbits. One from a student and one from the sex-ed teacher. Came home from school to have DH accusing me of getting more rabbits. Nope! The sex-ed teacher didn't know his stuff all that well. He rescued a female rabbit from the rushing waters, and then there were 5.
