I am not sure what is eating them. The ones that did not get eaten as soon as they sprouted are now being attacked by bugs. what ever it is just leaves a skeleton of the leaf grr. anybody know what bug does this?
I'm going to take 2 guesses, Collector. And, they are no more than guesses.
1st guess: it isn't Japanese beetles or Mexican bean beetles. Those bean beetles will do the same thing - skeletonize the beans. They are the little yellow ladybugs. Except, they aren't ladybugs. The larva is yellow, also.
2nd guess: you've got slugs and they have spent a lot of time on that plant.
It may be the insects but last year (so very similar to this one) was absolutely terrible for slugs! They haven't had my ripe tomatoes to chew up yet but I've already got that expensive Sluggo to put a stop to them! Yeah, I've only used that in the greenhouse & tunnel because it is expensive & every pellet disappears under a single drop of water. I really hope I don't have to apply it more than once.
I haven't seen overwhelming numbers yet but I'm guessing that our weather just really suits them to a T.
