I have been watching what I eat, in a desire to lose weight. There was a time I just had to think about losing weight and it would happen. At 52 it has been a fight for every ounce ! I was starting to feel it was hopeless, when a friend stopped by work last night. all he had to say was " you look like you lost weight" I felted like there is now hope and battled freezing weather to go to gym. I know I need to excerize more not just diet. My gym is about 1 mile away and 24 hours.

The neighbor complimented me when I showed up in the garden to begin the 2015 season. I suppose I don't want to disappoint him this spring. He is a slim and active guy in his mid-70's, so he sets a good example.

DD looked a little confused when I told her that with exercise, there is some advantage to being olde. I am sure I get more outta just moving around because I'm lame and so awkward -- but, that's not what I'm talking about ;).

The heart rate thing! I think I've got it partly figured out :). Thirty minutes at least 5 times a week, that is part of it. I don't need to do all that much to hit the target rate - especially for weight control. There is a different term for it ... something about calories ...

The idea is that you sustain the activity for 30 minutes. Shoot, I can hardly look through one of my favorite magazines in less than 30 minutes. I'm a slow eater. There is no way that I'm gonna finish one of three meals a day in less than 30 minutes! Not at this time of year, anyway.

They say (and it has been my experience) that regular exercise can also help you quit smoking. *hint* *hint* ;) Whatever you can do to eat right and get some exercise, just think of how much better you will feel and how your health will benefit, even if it does take some time before you see it affect your weight. Keep up the good work! :)
