Spanish city of Benalmadena recognizes officially Armenian genocide

YEREVAN, August 12. /ARKA/. The Spanish city of Benalmadena has recognized officially today and condemned the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire in 1915, the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry said. It said the City Council voted unanimously for the declaration.

"Thus, Benalmadena has joined to more than twenty cities in Spain which have recognized the Armenian Genocide", the ministry said.

In 2015 Armenia marked the 100 anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, the first genocide of the twentieth century. According to Armenian and many other historians, up to 1.5 million Armenians were killed starting in 1915 in a systematic campaign by the government of Turkey. Turkey has been denying it for decades.

The Armenian genocide was recognized by tens of countries. The first was Uruguay that did so in 1965. Other nations are Russia, France, Italy, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Poland, Lithuania, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, Greece, Cyprus, Lebanon, Canada, Venezuela, Argentina, 43 U.S. states.

It was recognized also by the Vatican, the European Parliament, the World Council of Churches and other international organizations. ---0----

It was many things, fun, profitable, theft of a country, murder of an ancient culture to usurp title and possessions and satisfy lust, greed and hate.

The culture they had intent to kill, Christian. The had the first Christian nation under their thumb, where they could kill all and the profit would be the nation it's self.

They killed the people and changed the name of the country from Armenia to Turkey.

They say it never happened.

Genocide the word, was coined later. Ethnic Cleansing was coined even later it was that also. The killing went on from 1915 to 1924 not an overnight thing.

They the Turks wanted New York Life, the insurance company to pay them as beneficiary for the Armenians killed who were insured, which New York Life refused to do.

It is only a guess as to how many were killed. It was believed to be between two and five million. The number of about one and a half million is now used. The thinking was that the Hamidian Massacres https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamidian_massacres may have taken the lifes of more than recorded leaving only one and a half million to be killed in the Genocide.

But, @dickiebird, the insurance isn't likely to pay insurance benefits to the murders of insurance clients and all their beneficiaries. That would set the precedent for more of the same throughout the world.

Think poorly of insurance companies if you will, but in this case it's probably a good thing.

While I was Sargarvark, Deacon in Charge, of a parish in this area New York Life came up with a settlement which it paid to the Armenian Church, in Holy Etchmiadzin ,Some $7,000 dollars was give our small parish from the Holy Etchmiadzin. The Bishop requested we send 2,000 to Los Angeles to help with the fire victims. ,many homes had been burned, about five years ago, I'm thinking. It was all given to help people who were in need or trouble, no way of finding the decendants, I think we did use a some to fly a priest up for Holy Badarak.

The did come up with some money.
