I was wondering how much snow you got, Jack. Looks like more than a dusting!

We are having a couple nights in the teens, so all the fruit trees and such are in danger. Everything has budded out.
I covered some seedlings that have grown in the garden: those larkspur I was so proud of. I sure hope they don't get nipped.

Jack, what is your "spring" date? My "last freeze" average is April 15, but that doesn't necessarily cover frosts. A light frost isn't all that bad for my cool weather crops or even fruit trees but a hard frost can be.

I've been having lows in the 20's so I have sheets all over my garden, they'll come off tomorrow. After that my 10 day forecast doesn't show anything close to a frost, let alone a freeze. Of course, 10 days is a long way out.

I've resigned myself to not getting any plums or peaches this year. It's not that spring is late, we've just had too many warm days so the trees have broken dormancy way early. A few days ago I had a Santa Rosa plum tree covered with beautiful white blooms. Now it's covered with dead looking brown things that used to be flowers. But my apples, pears, and mulberry have not shown any life yet, I have hopes.

@Ridgerunner Here is what I found: Each winter, on average, your risk of frost is from September 28 through May 8. Most certainly, however, you will receive frost from October 10 through April 27.

Most people here do not put their tomatoes and peppers in the ground until Memorial Day. I am glad I have the greenhouse so I can get tomatoes in there by mid-April.

Sorry to hear about your fruit trees, bummer.

We probably got two feet or so, but there are drifts MUCH higher than that. The bitter cold is getting to me and no end is in sight yet.

We are a little farther north and east of East Greenbush and higher in elevation so we most likely got more than two feet. Impossible to measure due to the drifts.

Maybe the northeast will get a warm up next week, like the Midwest is supposed to.
Wasn't it only a couple years ago that NY had piles of plowed snow way into the summer? Or maybe that was farther north.

Lucky I think that was Boston. NYC has these giant heaters next to Hudson river, the dump trucks unload snow into heaters, melted snow runs off into Hudson river. Unfortunately the streets of NYC are filled with trash that gets shovel up with the snow. Just one more way we pollute the river.

It is raining, the wind is blowing ..!

I think the remaining snow in my yard will be gone in a matter of hours !

This is a late-melting of the November snow. If it wasn't so unpleasant outdoors, I might go out and stomp on it!!!

Well that's not fair at all. *pout*
I still have plenty over everything, although the edges are shrinking inward. Maybe two more weeks before I'm snow free?
