Hey guys!

I wrote another article for Feburary, and it covers square foot gardening. I however only did this in one bed last year, and I never took a picture of it.

Does anyone have a good photo they are willing to share for me to use with this article next month? Of course I will make sure you get credit for it.

Just let me know!

(I'll even give you a sneak peek of the article if you'd like, and I'll post here when its out.)

This is NOT at all personal but many folks do write just like you and want to use their own photos for their own articles or whatever down the road

I have been working on watermarking all mine just in case because I have seen them in other peoples pieces online

it is nice you would ask first however because there are many who just take!

good luck in your endeavors and do not take it personally if no one wants to give up photos or recipes ..for your pieces it does not mean we are not supportive some of us just want to do keep our stuff either private or for our own usage later

is the Square Foot Garden a trademark name I wonder? Be careful of that you would not want Mel on you for infringement!

Watermarks are easy and if someone wanted to share a photo I would watermark it for them with their name and date and such if they so wanted. I use photoshop to mark mine.

Secondly, IF it is trademarked by Mel, doesn't matter... I quite simply wrote what it was, the 10 basic tips MEL gives... I credited him, his book, and linked it all back to his website... but I dare not use any of his photos.

I swear I had one to show what it looked like.. but nada! Who knows... I have something like 10k photos on here, and only maybe 2000 are renamed and in any kind of order.

I've seen such watermarks on sports photos, and the like. How do you do this?
I will pm you I do not want to overrun Vfem's thread but we got a freebe and then bought it cheapo!!! ..it is really easy to do it just takes a little time to get caught up on all the photos ..now I do it straight away ..it is not 100% but it is a good way to help keep your stuff your stuff

I have had friends really hurt by folks just grabbing ideas/photos with out asking changing a few words and calling it theirs

such a shame people want to profit from others with out permission!

but it is the risk you take when post online

Thanks, HiDelight--I Missed the link?!?!?
Copy rights have had an interesting history, depending upon what artwork, and when. For instance, during the 20th century, there were, of course copyrights, which expired at the death of the artist. But, during the 1600-1700's, musical composers expected other composers to use their thematic material without compensation. They did, however, work on commission projects for wealthy patrons, so income wasn't an issue.
It is a little weird when someone posts a family picture, then discovers it is being used, without permission, to sell something else.

Ducks really interesting thanks I just pm'd you the link for the watermark program you can try it for free and then buy it for 20 bucks if you like it

let me know if you get it

and good luck

I think the thing is some folks have so many years of time invested in gardeing cooking ect ..and to find it used for others to make a profit with out asking is kind of lousy ...

so thanks for asking VFEM

but please understand if some of us say a polite "no"
you are just starting your adventure in gardening and you can do tons of photos this summer ..your photos in your articles should be your own anyway I should think ..I am always more impressed with things I read that are proven experience

take care and good luck to you
