Stamped concrete and ice

What can we use on our stamped concrete patio to get the ice off? I don't want anyone to slip but I also don't want to put any salt on the patio. I'm sure it will discolor the concrete stamps. Anyone have any idea?

I have heard that sand will melt the ice. I am not sure how it works, but sand will probably be too messy. Do they make a store bought product that will help melt the snow and ice? We hardly get snow where I live.

If you don't want to use salt, try sand or kitty litter to provide some traction. It won't be pretty but it will be safer.
