Sticky Newstory in Comics

ummmmm, does it seem bizarre to anyone else that there is "backup" supply of maple syrup? I guess I didn't realize how strategic maple syrup was to economic security...haha.

Not to me. I have my own "backup" supply in the pantry. Love the real thing and can't stomach the maple 'flavored' syrup everyone else uses. Last year I planted 25 sugar maple trees. Yup! It will be a long time before Maverick can tap them, but it's a start.

Smart Red, how soon will be you able to get syrup? I too use only the real thing. Thank goodness I don't use much. Even at Costco, it's pretty expensive.

I reckon I can tap my trees when I'm 105 years old at the soonest. That's the reason I expect my grandson to get the benefit of my labor. I just hope to enjoy the beauty of their fall color across the field as they grow.

Makes sense as keeps prices from spiking and plummeting thus bankrupting the industry. We do similar in USA with fruits.
