Deeply Rooted
My watermelons and cantaloupe have been doing very well. They both have lots of melons developing and have completely taken over their patch of the garden. One section of them has gotten some sticky stuff all over the leaves and fruit. It looks dark in color but I don't know if that is the stuff itself or just dirt that has gotten stuck in there. I have been assuming that it is just honeydew since I know we have lots of aphids and ants in there. Could it be something else and should I try to do something about it? There doesn't really seem to be any real damage to any of the plants.
The other issue I am having is that there are hundreds of flies around that same part of my melon patch. Is that connected with all the sticky stuff do you think?
*Just realized I should have put this in the diseases/pests section. Sorry!
