Just wanted to share this beauty. :)

We're getting about a half-gallon every day. We planted about 100 last year and are definitely reaping the benefits now.

A half a gallon a day!!! You must be in heaven! How much space did you devote to 100 plants? That is one perfect berry! Enjoy!

Lesa - we have 12 4x4 raised beds. The plants are wayyy to crowded. Part of the 100 are plants that were runners which we moved last fall. Once their done for the season, I'm going to have to do some merciless thinning.

Interesting... I was a little disappointed when I learned the berry plants really only produce for 3-4 years. I was imagining a permanent strawberry garden. At the moment, a friend of mine plants acres of organically grown strawberries. She keeps talking about retiring- but until she does, I will keep our little patch and pick and pay for her berries. I do love the idea of growing "desert"!

Oh, don't be discouraged! A mother plant will pump out runners every year to replace themselves with!

That's how I distract myself from my aching back and knees from picking - I reward myself with some of the berries to keep me going. :D
