I bought strawberry roots from two different places, and thought I would share their status as of TODAY. The plants are planted in the same bed ... 1 order in 1/2 the bed, the other order in the other 1/2 of the bed. So growing conditions and soil are the same. Both are ever-bearing varieties.
This half of the bed is planted with plants from Gurney's (EVERSWEET). They'd been planted 5 days when I took this photo.
This half of the bed is planted with plants from Tractor Supply (TSC), bought only because there was a delay in my shipment from Gurney's, and I wasn't sure the Gurney order was ever going to arrive. They were 30% off, but the soil around the roots was still moist when I opened the package. They'd been planted 15 days when I took this photo.
And I should mention ... there are little bits of green on this side of the bed ... most of them are leaves blown off nearby hackberry trees. The strawberry growth you see is actually from itty bitty roots from the Gurney's order that I tucked in between other TSC plants.
