I bought a Boston fern back in the spring to put on my front porch, South facing. That fern has been blown off its perch many times, blown into the rockers, turned over on its head. It gets very dried out before I water it sometimes. It never seems to change. I suppose it has grown, because there are always half unfurled fronds, but I have never seen one frond die or break or turn brown, like other ferns do. Even knocking it over on its head didn't break anything.
I had planned to just toss it in the winter, because I have dreadful luck with ferns inside in the house once the heat is turned on. But now, I feel like I owe it something....:hide

@Nyboy I have the parlor (sort of) I've got the window and the fern stand. But can not, for the life of me, get a fern to last more than a month or two in my home . :(

Is the air very dry in the room where you would put it? Maybe place your fern on a tray of water with pebbles sitting just above the water to increase the humidity. My neighbor has hers sitting right in a shallow tray of water, never lets it go dry and she has a beautiful B. fern, go figure:hu.

Might give it a try some year! Not looking like a good year for anything but cleaning up my MESSY house and MIL's MESSY apartment. The clutter has got to go. :(

Silk ferns are so realistic looking now, no one would know unless they tried to break a frond off.
I think ferns did better in Victorian times because the houses were colder and not so dry. That wood fireplace didn't heat up the corners and window areas.
