To compensate for our shorter daylight hours, and for our numerous dreary days, I decided to add two small LEDs to provide supplemental lighting in the greenhouse. A timer will turn the lights on at 7 am till 11 am, and again at 5 pm until 9 pm. They give the greenhouse a pink eerie glow after dark that Ava loves.

Mary,
Is it time to schedule an eye exam?

Your Japanese Trifle tomatoes are a potato leaf variety, which makes it easy to tell them from my other tomato plants.

No, but I do need glasses! My vision is 20/30 and the glasses I have picked out are $625 out of my own pocket. After paying my quarterly taxes and my upcoming April 15 taxes, there's just no money left. :( Maybe later, cause they sure are cute. In fuchsia, my favorite color.

I know what you mean about cost. They charged me ninety dollars for frames several years ago, but I have reused them twice now. Almost a hundred dollars for a fraction of an ounce of metal! Now, they charge an extra ten dollars to reuse the old frame. Fortunately, I don't really need glasses to drive. They do help with tiny print though. As for style, I am way beyond that!!

Hope you don't mind me straying a bit off topic, but regarding glasses being so expensive, there was a news piece on ---60 Minutes?----a while back, that said almost all the glasses frames sold in the US are from the same manufacturer in Norway or somewhere over there (sorry). Anyway, the $500 frames and the $50 frames are all made by the same people. They just put that fancy sticker on them. All the chain glasses places, such as Lenscrafters, etc, get their glasses from the same place. That's one reason you don't see very much competition pricing. Sunglasses have the same racket. Last time I went to get new glasses, I was going to go with their advertised special, $59, but by the time they got through with the "bare minimum" it was $250, plus an eye infection for free. :somad

My ninety dollar frames say: Nikon. Yeah really, like I believe that. I bought prescription sunglasses in the fall for the first time. The frames I selected were nine dollars, the lenses were eighty. The frames are just as good as the "Nikon" frames that cost ten times more. Don't get me going on prescription drug cost!!

I know what you mean So Lucky, I had the same experience, but I skipped the free eye infection. I ended up getting contacts instead of glasses (from Costco )

I'm not hijacking Jack ;) , I was just going to say you should post a picture of your glowing pinkhouse.

Your wish is my command. It was not an easy matter to take this, and, it does not really do it justice. Pink is Ava's absolute favorite color, shoes, bike, backpack, and now greenhouse.
