Hi all;
Found this honey bee swarm on the farm yesterday ... nearly walked under the thing -- glad I saw it when I did!
Having trouble getting a hold of anyone who might be willing to come get it from our farm. Hope they don't decide to take up residence in one of our buildings!

It's roughly the size of a football, about 9 or 10 feet off the ground, in this hackberry tree.

Would be easy pickin's for a local beekeep!

Ohhh, Daisy! Those look like the good kind of honeybees! If I was in your shoes I'd be asking around to look for a beehive and the stuff to keep them.

Over here we get mud daubers, hornets, and worst of all, yellowjackets. We also have bumblebees, a few honeybees, and a couple other kinds that are smaller.

By the way Daisy, your tree trellis did inspire me to make some for my beans. Not as good as yours, but good. I'll have photos pretty soon.

Oh how cool! Can't believe you got such a great picture of them! You bet, I wish we lived closer.

Daisy I saw on the news today that they had a swarm at a baseball game and the bee keepers vacuumed them up... If they want to be at your farm I'd let them stay... honey bees are indangered in some places...

I guess this is the year for swarms. I went to our beek meeting last night and so far our members have collected 112 swarms. We're giving bees away like crazy. Normally at this time each year we have collected about 10 swarms.

I also wished I was closer! We are away from home for a few days and I am worried one of our hives will swarm. We looked in them Monday and I saw some queen cells so know they are preparing. Just hope they wait till we return and give us a chance to catch them.
