Considerate little critter isn't it? BTW don't pick any eggs that are discolored. They probably contain a larvae of a parasitic wasp that is helping you out.

I was surprised to find a VERY large potato bug crawling across bare ground in the garden while I was setting out peppers, yesterday. There was only some cabbage way over there and some kale and celeriac way over there.

I figure she was plump with eggs after overwintering and imagined that she was heading towards my Anaheim and jalapeno peppers.

I pretended that she was, anyway :/.

Right now I'm squashing the larva. I've only seen 2-3 of the actual beetles.

The larva are so gross! The first day I saw them, there were a bunch, but every day since I've had to squish fewer & fewer of them. And so far they've left my tomatoes alone. :fl I've read potatoes can handle a pretty significant defoliation & still produce tubers, but tomatoes don't fare so well.
