That keeps showing up in a TEG ad on the side, that is a warbler, right?

Says, "go birdwatching in Texas."

We have the Audubon's warblers ( LInk)

It apparently has a rather uncomplimentary name these days. What have they done with those birds, DNA studies?

I havent noticed the birding ad...i'll keep my eyes open for it, and daydream about birding in Texas! One of my goals this summer is to see the warblers we do get around here. We have a few, i know where people find them, but i just havent gone and spent the time looking for them yet. AND i'll try and get some good pictures of them!

:D ... apparently, Yes... there is a link on your link page Cornell Birdscope (saved for future reading :) ) I don't see them often, I think we mainly get them migrating through. I did catch one at the bird bath last fall, at least I think. My best attempt at a photo is not good- can you ID him? :D

(The ad I keep getting is a Shell ad with a truck plowing snow! :somad )

I don't get any snow plow ad . . . now that you mention a bird, you might be seeing that ad to visit Texas for birdwatching, Lavendar ;).

Heather may know where to go to find the residents. I only see them show up, in great numbers. They stay a few minutes at a puddle - then they are gone! The picture looks about right . . .

There are many warblers. I see another link on that page - it takes me to: Tips for Spring Warbler Watching (link). That took me to a link for an eBird page where I could check out sightings by county. Now, I feel left out!! Lots of different warblers have been seen around here!

Lavender, my best guess for your bird (and it really is a guess!) is that it might be a female or immature yellow-rumped warbler? I'll see if i can find a pic of what i'm looking at in my birdbook.

Oh here's a good pic from National Geo, sorta looks like the female in the group of birds on the left??

I think you're right. That looks the closest to me also. Great link!

Thanks for the link!... and Steve too! I will be watching my woods much closer in May, and for the other two types that have been observed near here all summer. If this weather doesn't start tuning around pretty quick I will be having an awful lot of birdwatching time. :)

That's it, Heather! It for Texas, anyway.

Now, I've got an ad for "wings over Texas" ;)! It is even flashing something that shows Mr Golden Cheek, with his ID.

I've only heard a warbler a few times. I guess I'm too noisy in the woods. They have a pretty song, but are really elusive in the woods. My DH took some ornithology classes in college, so we have friendly arguments about what kind of birds we see. Sometimes I surprise him with a correct answer, gleaned from "who knows where." Also, my Sis-In-Law and bro gave us a book with about 200 different birds and songs. There is a button to push and it plays the song/call of the bird on a page.
