The Baron of Beef has been ordered, 9-10 lbs. this year. Made my mind up to what salads to make, a kale with dried cranberries and pumpkin seeds, a Caesar my homemade dressing and a cucumber, shrimp and feta. Just finished making the dessert a frozen lemon mousse it's now in the freezer. What I like about this dessert you can make it two weeks ahead if needed.

We used to have New Years at our house but it's too small for the crowd that has seemed to accumulate over the years so we take it all over to our daughters. This way we can make an early night of it and leave the cleanup to them:thumbsup.

What are you all doing for New Years, big dinner, buffet, simple pickens? Funny how traditions get started, Beef dip at our house was and is still very simple, roast is sliced, buns are warm and sitting on the counter along with plates and cutlery, big pan of dip simmering on the stove, salads on the dining room table. Form a line, help yourself and hope to h*ll you can find a place to sit :).

The last 2 weeks of Dec are my busyest of the year. I have a full kennel and double booked groomings every day. By New Years eve I am burnt out. Have no interest in going to a party. Some time will try and stay up to watch ball drop, but usually fall a sleep before. Jan is one of my slowest months, I get to recover.

I wish I were more of a party animal, but, alas, by 10:30 or 11, I'm usually ready to pack it in for the day, ball dropping or not.
Although, 2016 is one year I am glad to see the back end of. Geeze!

Now, this is for New Year's Eve, Annette?

New Year's Day, we have brunch. Omelets. Dad took care of that until he was about 75, then complained that he didn't know how he "got roped into it." I've been doing it ever since.

DW is a New Year Baby so I have to take a major role. It doesn't amount to much - just that I can't make more than one omelet at a time. However, they are quick. Everyone is responsible for their own additions so they have a small bowl to hand me. And, finishing can be in the microwave. Bingo! An omelet!

@digitS' , New Year' day around 5pm. New year's eve is a stay at home with a good movie and a pizza, maybe chinese, for us the last few years. Done with the party thing, I much prefer a quiet night at home just vegging out :).
