Wow, V! That is quite a story. I don't think anyone could have imagined it.

The potato side of it made me think of information in the Fedco catalog about the "Scatterseed Project." I hadn't thought of it before: Potatoes have to be grown every year. They cannot be stored as seed can.

If a potato variety isn't grown this year. Somewhere. Somebody has to grow them. If they don't and it isn't, it's gone.

Incredible story! I wonder how it came out? The story is dated 2010. I'll have to google it...the suspense is killing me!

Actually potatos do set fruit that look like small tomatos and contain seeds. One of my experimental projects this Fall will be to save the seed from some of my potato plants and see what I can do with them.
