It went to the farmers' market, Lesa & Joan.

Two coolers are just kale. It's pretty easy to fill a cooler with kale - fluffy stuff!

Top right corner is the lettuce cooler. See that purple stuff in the bottom left cooler??

That's orache! There hasn't been a lot but it sure is purple and pretty. Might be baby beets in there with 'em. Quite a few green onions (too many) and greens, greens, greens.

An important "find" this year is Senposai. I grew it one season before but only had a few plants. Senposai is a hybrid of cabbage and Komatsuna. The tenderness of the plants is wonderful! It makes me determined to try Komatsuna next year!

What I did the last time is give just a few plants plenty of room and they grew BIG, almost the same as broccoli (oh yeah, there's some broccoli in those coolers). Anyway, when flower buds formed, we ate those. Very little difference from broccoli in flavor but -- a hot weather veggie!

Start from seed and its season is after the broccoli burns up in the summer sun!

Wanna know how I know so much about the tenderness and flavor of Senposai?? The customers don't know what it is. I've been eating quite a bit of the thinnings ;)! :D (That's me with green stuff stuck between my teeth :D.)

I just looked up Senposai! It says its resistant to heat and grows all year round!? It sounds excellent and easier than cabbage. I had no luck with my cabbage last year. Do you think it would grown in this hot box down here?

Joan, most of the Asian greens are from China's "hot box" in the south. This one, however, is from Japan.

:idunno

It gets plenty hot here but mostly there's that aridititididititid . . . dryness. So, that's probably not much like Japan, either.

This is a clearer picture of the "haul" - http://twitpic.com/20gmjb/full

The Senposai is in the lower right cooler, between the cilantro and the dill. (If I can brag just a little, there was a cooler #7 but 7 didn't fit in the camera range very well . . .)

Way to go! That's a nice crop. I'm always interested in new greens. That Senposai sounds interesting for next year. Right now my garden is fully occupied with warm weather veggies but it's time to get my Chinese greens on order. It will be Fall planting time in a couple of months.

With that kind of haul, you can brag all you want! I put Senposai on my list for next year. :)
